Born in 1925, he served in Infantry Intelligence in both Europe and the Philippines in World War II. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and the Harvard Business School. Before moving to La Jolla, California in 1963, Mr. Gammage worked in New York City for fifteen years as a financial consultant and with the McCann-Erickson advertising agency for such diverse clients as CBS and NBC networks, Nabisco, B.F. Goodrich, the Standard Oil companies, Buick and Chrysler. From 1970 to 1976 he was head of research and portfolio management for two La Jolla investment counseling firms, then operated his own until 1989. Since 1976 Mr. Gammage has published THE RICHLAND REPORT, a bi-weekly stock and market investment advisory newsletter NOT designed for the Great Unwashed. His economic views are antediluvian, being Austrian, free-market and hard-money, with emphasis on the abolition of the Federal Reserve, the BATF and the IRS. Politically, he is aggressively IN-correct and somewhat to the right of Attila the Hun. He's convinced that George Bush, David Rockefeller and Bill Clinton are cousins under the skin, and Rush Limbaugh too liberal. He advocates bringing back such fine old institutions as the poll tax, public floggings and tarring and feathering of politicians.
