Stan Harley, an Eagle Scout at the age of 13, earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin in 1976, where his course of study emphasized harmonic vibrations and celestial mechanics. Following graduation, he served 10 years with the U.S. Navy. As a naval aviator in carrier-based fighter aircraft, Stan logged 2000 flight hours in the F-4 Phantom II and F-14 Tomcat aircraft with 441 carrier-arrested landings, and attended the U.S. Navy's Fighter Weapons School TOPGUN. Following military service, Stan worked at Northrop Grumman Corporation in Hawthorne, California and earned his Masters Degree in Business Administration at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1989. In 1991, he formed Harley Capital Management, an investment advisory firm registered with the California Department of Corporations. As its president and portfolio manager, Stan also publishes The Harley Market Letter and provides consultative services to institutional managers, individual investors and traders. Timer Digest ranked The Harley Market Letter Stock Market Timer of the Year in 1998 and Bond Market Timer of the Year in 2001.
