Biography
Dr. Peter Hanson is a San Diego native. After graduating from Monte Vista High School, Dr. Hanson attended Occidental College in Los Angeles from which he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He stayed in Southern California, attending the University of California, Irvine Medical School. He was president of his class and graduated with honors in 1986.
He ventured north to Sacramento, completing his internship and orthopaedic residency at the University of California, Davis Medical Center in 1991. Interest in total joints replacement surgery led to a fellowship in adult lower extremity total joint reconstruction at The Scripps Clinic in La Jolla.
Dr. Hanson came home to La Mesa and joined Grossmont Orthopaedic Medical Group in August of 1992 and has enjoyed all aspects of his orthopaedic practice, which includes sports medicine, arthroscopy, shoulder reconstruction and lower extremity total joint replacement including introducing the anterior hip approach to East County. He has held major leadership positions that have been focused on patient care.
