Biography
Heather Roff is a current Research Scientist at Arizona State University in the Global Security Initiative. She is also a part-time Senior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford in the Department of Politics and International Relations working on a project headed by Jennifer Welsh, David Rodin and Dapo Akande called the "Individualisation of War." She is also a national cybersecurity fellow at the New America Foundation in Washington, D.C.
Her research interests pertain to the law, policy, and ethics of emerging military technologies. She is most interested in the intersection of robotics, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity and how this particular intersection of technologies gives rise to challenges or problems associated with warfighting, civilian protection, upholding international law and morality, and the broader and more wide-ranging impacts on society.
