Biography
Louis Tenenbaum, founder of the Aging in Place Institute, a former carpenter and contractor, is a leading thinker, speaker and consultant on Aging in Place–the idea that our homes are the most desirable and economical place for housing and care. Though everyone agrees Aging in Place is a good idea, it has not become successfully mainstream, leading Louis to study housing and care systems for older Americans. In 2010 Louis wrote Aging in Place 2.0: Rethinking Solutions to the Home Care Challenge, published by the MetLife Mature Marketing Institute. Tenenbaum helps business, not for profits and communities understand their business model relationships for Aging in Place.
Louis completed his first home modifications in 1988. He was the first design build contractor specializing in home modifications for Aging in Place starting in 1991. Louis consults with families, builders, developers and product manufacturers on Universal Design solutions.
