Biography
Thomas E. Woods, Jr., holds a bachelor's degree in history from Harvard and his master's, M.Phil., and Ph.D. from Columbia University. A senior fellow at the Ludwig von Mises Institute, he is the author of several books, including the New York Times bestsellers Meltdown: A Free-Market Look at Why the Stock Market Collapsed, the Economy Tanked, and Government Bailouts Will Make Things Worseand The Politically Incorrect Guide™ to American History.
Woods won the $50,000 first prize in the 2006 Templeton Enterprise Awards for his book The Church and the Market: A Catholic Defense of the Free Economy , and co-edited Exploring American History: From Colonial Times to 1877, an eleven-volume encyclopedia.
Woods’s writing has appeared in dozens of popular and scholarly periodicals including Investor's Business Daily, American Historical Review, and Christian Science Monitor.
He also has appeared on FOX News Channel, MSNBC, CNBC, FOX Business Network, and C-SPAN, and as a guest on hundreds of radio programs including the Glenn Beck Show, The Sean Hannity Show, the Dennis Miller Show, the Laura Ingraham Show, as well as NPR's Morning Edition and On Point.
He lives with his family in Auburn, Alabama.
