The following monthly charts of the Dow Jones/AIG Commodity Indexes are drawn through February 2006.  While the data only goes back to 1991, it does give us a chance to look at how various "sectors" within the commodity markets have performed in the past 15 years. Our sense was that commodity markets are similar to stock indexes, that is, it depends on which commodities you own and what time period you own them. The following series of monthly charts seems to confirm that sense.
