Bob Marckini is the founder of the international prostate cancer support group, the Brotherhood of the Balloon (BOB). The organization, launched in 2000, consists of almost 7,000 men from all 50 states and 35 countries. The BOB promotes prostate cancer awareness and prevention, advocates proton beam therapy for prostate cancer, and raises millions of dollars for proton therapy research. This research benefits thousands of men, women and children who are afflicted with various cancers or other serious medical conditions.

Marckini also authored the book, You Can Beat Prostate Cancer, which has become one of the top selling books on the subject of prostate cancer detection and treatment. It is currently #3 on Amazon’s list of more than 26,000 books on prostate cancer. Bob has appeared on the Today Show, NBC Nightly News and Fox 25 News. He has been interviewed on numerous radio programs, including National Public Radio, and has been quoted in the major print media, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Men’s Health Magazine, and US News & World Report

Marckini is a chemical engineer with a Masters in Business Administration. He is a registered professional engineer and a graduate of the MIT Greater Boston Executive Program. His experience includes project engineering, project management, manufacturing management, plant management and division management in the photographic chemical, pharmaceutical, and specialty chemical industries.

Marckini is also a former senior vice president for a Fortune 500 company, with responsibility for Worldwide Operations. More recently, he consulted throughout North America in Total Quality Management, Continuous Quality Improvement and Total Cycle Time Reduction. He serves on several business boards and is also active in church and community activities.

Bob Marckini resides in the seaside town of Mattapoisett, Massachusetts with his wife, Pauline. He enjoys golf, boating and reading. Bob and Pauline Marckini have two daughters.
