Kathy Ruby's Blog

Kathy Ruby has worked as a financial aid professional for over twenty-seven years. She came to College Coach after fourteen years at St. Olaf College — ten years as director of financial aid and four years as assistant vice president for enrollment and dean of student financial aid. As a senior administrator in the enrollment division at a private, selective four-year college, her responsibilities ranged from developing strategic institutional financial aid awarding policies to running day-to-day operations and leading (and participating in) the application and appeal review and awarding processes. Prior to her time at St. Olaf, Kathy worked in the financial aid offices at the Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and Eastern Virginia Medical School. While there was never a dull moment in her career as an aid administrator, her favorite areas to explore were debt management counseling and financial literacy programs. She was also (and continues to be) a frequent presenter at high school financial aid nights.
