Jim Puplava is an asset manager and financial professional who has been interviewed by The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, ABC News: Nightline, The Wall Street Transcript, The Huffington Post, and the documentary film, The End of the Road: How Money Became Worthless, among other publications and media sources.
His experience in financial media began in 1988, with his hosting of Financial Sense Talkradio on various radio stations in San Diego. Today, he continues his weekly Financial Sense Newshour podcasts, writes thought-provoking commentary for FinancialSense.com, and oversees the portfolio management team at Financial Sense Wealth Management, and Financial Sense Securities, Inc.
Mr. Puplava graduated cum laude in political science from Arizona State University. He then went on to graduate with honors earning a master's degree in international management from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird). Among his many awards and achievements, in 2007 and 2009 Jim was nominated by his clients and professional peers as one of the San Diego area's best wealth managers.
Mr. Puplava's professional designations include Certified Financial Planner; FINRA Series 7, Series 24, Series 65, and Life, Disability and Variable Insurance licenses. Mr. Puplava has been president of Financial Sense® Advisors, Inc. (FSA) since 1985. For 12 years, he held a position as Branch Manager for LPL Financial Services, LLC. In 1996, Mr. Puplava established the broker/dealer firm, Financial Sense® Securities, Inc. (FSS) and is its president.
Mr. Puplava and his wife, Mary live in San Diego near their three sons and their grandchildren and are involved in a number of philanthropic enterprises through their charitable foundation. Mr. Puplava loves historical documentaries, sailing, and is an avid reader.
