Biography
Mr. Ortega has been administrating and marketing hedge funds globally since 2002. He has worked with Market Wizards/Fortune Asset Management of London, Lumen Advisors of San Francisco and Worldvest Capital Markets of Connecticut. These have included working with multi-strategy Hedge Funds, Emerging Markets, High Technology Private Equity and diversified Quantitative Modeling Hedge Funds marketing to Investment Banks, University Endowments, Pension Funds, Charity Endowments, Family Offices and Insurance Companies in the US, Europe, Asia and the Americas.
He has helped lead and manage the administrative start up of two hedge funds, one offshore, and has been working in the financial industry, marketing to investors, since he raised his first million for a start up company in 1999. Larry has also been studying peak oil and its effect on oil and gas exploration companies for the last four years, while advising in oil and gas investment offers in the midstream and upstream segments. He recently led the development of a business plan with complete financials for a $1.4 billion midstream project in the Southwest. He has also worked on several upstream and downstream acquisition efforts as well as oil and gas technology projects. Larry is also an experienced mechanical, electrical and fluid dynamics engineer with a strong background in software and project management. He has led several multi hundred million dollar engineering projects prior to his hedge fund career.
Larry will be leading the investment professionals of this fund as they create investor value. At one time in his career he has held FINRA series 3 and 62 licenses. He is an Air Force Academy Graduate where he was awarded his Bachelors in Engineering, and also holds a Masters Degree in Aerospace Engineering from USC as well as an MBA from the University of Phoenix with an emphasis in the Finance and Management of Hedge Funds. Prior to his career in Finance, Larry was an Air Force Officer, flyer and Test Pilot School Graduate that designed, developed, flight-tested and flew experimental and operational rockets, satellites and aircraft for the Air Force and NASA. He speaks Spanish and travel Russian, French, German and Italian.
