The Fed Is Not Questioned Enough, Says Chris Whalen

Joining us on FS Insider is Christopher Whalen, Chairman of Whalen Global Advisors LLC. He asserts that the President is correct to question the Fed and that the Fed is not getting questioned enough on matters of monetary policy. He reasons that long-term interest rates aren’t rising because no one is selling; the Fed ought to be selling futures and swaps for 10 year or longer-dated Treasury paper to gently push the curve up so it doesn’t invert. He also predicts that net interest margin is going to start going down in the second quarter of next year. Stating that long-term rates still want to go down, Whalen states that it is not the time to be cutting taxes and that the economy is ok.
