Jim welcomes back Axel Merk, Founder and President of Merk Investments LLC and the author of “Sustainable Wealth: Achieve Financial Security in a Volatile World of Debt and Consumption”. Axel believes the US is better positioned than any other country at the moment to keep “kicking the can down the road” regarding its debt and economic policy issues. He sees the biggest current threat as slowing economic growth, with inflation picking up. Axel notes that the new Janet Yellen Fed may lead to a more inflationary scenario. He also believes that Stanley Fischer, nominated to be Fed Vice Chairman, will be a prominent addition to the Fed and provide intellectual support for Yellen.
