Axel Merk: Volatility the Big Issue in 2015 – Markets and the Dollar Could Weaken

Risk Premiums Will Reappear Next Year Without QE From the Fed

  • Print

Jim welcomes back Axel Merk, Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Merk Investments LLC. Axel notes that foreigners have bid up U.S. markets and the dollar this year. He believes turbulence will return to the markets next year with the end of QE by the Fed, and sees potential weakness in both the U.S. markets and the dollar. With the vast majority of analysts predicting a stronger dollar in 2015, Axel believes the markets will surprise the experts. They discuss Federal Reserve policy and when, or if, the Fed will raise interest rates next year. Axel also comments on the drop in the oil price and what that could mean for inflation expectations.
