Book Interview with Dr. Eric Topol - The Patient Will See You Now
In his new book, The Patient Will See You Now – The Future of Medicine is in Your Hands, Dr. Eric Topol, a practicing cardiologist and professor of genomics, maps out out the new world of democratized medicine involving smartphones, big data, and wearable sensors.
Dr. Topol calls medicine’s “Gutenberg moment”, comparing the disruptive impact of the printing press with how the mobile internet is changing medicine. The path forward will be complicated and the medical establishment will likely resist these changes. But Dr. Topol believes the result – better, cheaper and more humane health care, will be well worth it.
