This week Jim and John look at a recent study produced by the National Institute on Retirement Security that points to an alarming trend regarding women in retirement. The study finds that women are 80% more likely than men to live in poverty at some point in their retirement. Between ages 75 and 79, women are three times more likely to fall below the poverty line. The study notes many factors that help explain the retirement disparity. Jim and John discuss the findings of the study, as well as what can be done to help women avoid poverty in retirement.
