Jim welcomes back Yolanda York, the Social Security Public Affairs Director for San Diego County. She discusses changes to Social Security in 2016, as well as noting many of the sweeping changes contained in last year’s Congressional budget bill. For those applying for Medicare this year, but who are not yet receiving Social Security benefits, the premium goes to $122 a month, up from $104. They also discuss the elimination of the “file and suspend” strategy, as well as other potential changes to Social Security benefits. Yolanda notes that some of the changes have yet to be fully resolved by the government.
