Big Picture: Red October and The Myth of Capitalism

Nov 3 – Last month began with records set for the major averages, but that only lasted a few days. All of the gains for 2018 were erased. October showed some of the most violent storms we’ve seen in the last seven years. On today’s edition of the Big Picture, Jim Puplava and Chris Preitauer talk about what to do during such dramatic volatility.

Also on the Big Picture, we play the first half of an hour-long interview we aired on Friday. The book is The Myth of Capitalism: Monopolies and the Death of Competition by Denise Hearn and Jonathan Tepper. They describe the unprecedented scale of concentration taking place at the corporate level and what is driving this phenomenon. They talk about how America has gone from an open, competitive marketplace to an economy where a few very powerful companies dominate key industries that affect our daily lives.
