Biography
Rob McEwen is Chairman and CEO of US Gold. Since July 2005, when McEwen became the Company's largest shareholder, US Gold's land position within Nevada's Cortez Trend has grown from 36 to 170 square miles. Previously, McEwen was the founder and former Chairman and CEO of Goldcorp Inc., where its Red Lake Mine in northwestern Ontario, Canada is still considered to be the richest gold mine in the world. During his tenure at Goldcorp, McEwen transformed the company from a collection of small companies into a mining powerhouse, growing its market capitalization from US $50 million to approximately $8 billion. More importantly, the shares of the company produced a compounded annual growth rate of 32%. Rob is also currently Chairman, CEO and largest shareholder of Minera Andes Inc.
Rob has been associated with the resource industry for 29 years. His career began in the investment industry, then in 1990 he stepped into the mining sector.
Throughout Rob's career his efforts have been recognized with awards such as Canadian Business magazine's "Most Innovative CEO", The Northern Miner's "Mining Man of the Year", Ernst & Young's 2002 Ontario Entrepreneur of the Year Award and Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Developer of the Year.
