Subscription & Cancellation Policy

This Subscription & Cancellation Policy ("policy") creates a binding agreement between Financial Sense® ("Financial Sense", "FS", "we", "us", or "our"), and the person ("you", "yourself", "your", "customer", or "client") using our online subscription services available through FinancialSense.com ("website", "site", "system", "platform"). With your purchase, you accept the below terms and conditions in full.

Purchases

If you purchase a subscription from our website, we require acceptance of our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and this policy, creation of a user account with an accessible e-mail address, a billing address, and a valid credit card or charge card for billing.

Our subscriptions have an initial length of one month ("monthly") or one year ("annual"), but at times we may offer subscription products with differing initial lengths. Successful completion of payment for a subscription will allow you to immediately access our subscription content. At the time of payment, we will deliver by e-mail a new user account notification (if applicable), order payment receipt, and information on how to cancel your subscription.

At the time of purchase, the credit card or charge card used for billing will be stored with our secure third-party payment processor to allow for automatic renewal payments of your subscription. You may update or delete your payment methods at any time through your user account on our site. To access, click the "Account" link in the top bar menu when logged in, and then click the "Stored Cards" tab in your account. Please note, it is required to have an active, default payment method on your account to process subscription renewals.

Payment Terms

By purchasing a subscription, you agree to an initial and recurring subscription fee at the then-current subscription rate. You accept responsibility for all recurring charges until you cancel your subscription. You may cancel your subscription at any time, subject to the terms of our Cancellation section (see below).

Automatic Renewals

Monthly Subscriptions

By purchasing a monthly subscription, you understand the subscription will automatically renew after one month has passed, and you will be billed at the recurring monthly rate for the purchased subscription. The automatic renewal will occur each month until you choose to cancel your subscription (see "Cancellation" section below).

The time frame of "one month" is defined in our system as one calendar month. Therefore, if an initial subscription purchase is made on the 31st of a 31-day month, subsequent renewals will occur on whichever day of the month is the last. For example, if a monthly subscription is purchased on October 31, the next two renewals will occur November 30 and December 31, respectively.

Annual Subscriptions

By purchasing an annual subscription, you understand the subscription will automatically renew after one year has passed, and you will be billed at the recurring annual rate for the purchased subscription. The automatic renewal will occur each year until you choose to cancel your subscription (see "Cancellation" section below). You will receive an e-mail thirty (30) days prior to the annual renewal notifying you of the upcoming charge, with instructions on how to cancel your subscription if you wish to do so.

The time frame of "one year" is defined in our system as one calendar year. Therefore, if an initial subscription purchase is made on July 26, subsequent renewals will occur on July 26 of each year. As well, if the initial subscription purchase is made on a leap day (February 29), subsequent renewals will occur on the day which represents the calendar year. This would be February 28 in non-leap years, and February 29 in leap years.

Subscription Rate Changes

We reserve the right to change subscription rates for both new and existing subscriptions. If a change will occur that impacts existing subscriptions, all customers will be notified at least thirty (30) days in advance, and the change will only apply to the next scheduled automatic renewal. Therefore, customers will have time to determine if their future subscription plans should change before new subscription rates go into effect.

Payment Collection

If you wish to have a subscription automatically renewed and there is a problem at the time of renewal payment collection, a notification will be sent to the e-mail address on your user account. The e-mail will inform you if the problem requires action. For example, the credit card on file may have expired, and the information was never updated in our system.

After the first renewal failure e-mail is sent, you will have three (3) days to fix the issue and still have your renewal complete successfully. Follow-up notifications will be sent daily during the three days until one of the following occurs:

  1. If there is a credit or charge card issue, you are able to update your payment method and the renewal completes successfully.
  2. If there is a system processing error issue, and the renewal is attempted again and completes successfully.
  3. You cancel your currently active subscription.

When three days pass and the renewal attempts are unsuccessful, the subscription will be terminated by the system and you will receive a notification e-mail that your subscription is no longer active. Once the subscription is ended, you will need to re-subscribe to gain access to subscription content.

Trial & Discount Offers

At times, we may provide limited access to our subscription content as part of a trial or discount offer. A trial offer is an offer which has no initial cost for a given amount of time, followed by an automatic renewal subscription for a given fee. A discount offer is an offer which has a discounted initial cost for a given amount of time, followed by an automatic renewal subscription for a given fee. Both offers require you to provide a valid credit card or charge card at the time of checkout. The payment method will be accessible through your user account and stored with our secure third-party payment processor (see "Purchases" section above).

For trial and discount offers of one month or less, you will receive an e-mail notification seven (7) days prior to the end of the trial/discount period about the upcoming scheduled automatic renewal. (Note: if the trial/discount period is less than 7 days, you will receive the e-mail notification immediately at the time of purchase.) For trial and discount offers greater than one month, you will receive an e-mail notification thirty (30) days prior to the end of the trial/discount period about the upcoming scheduled automatic renewal. E-mail notifications also contain instructions on how to cancel your trial/discount offer prior to the automatic renewal taking place.

Refund

We do not provide refunds for monthly subscriptions. For annual subscriptions, a pro-rated refund will be available during the first three (3) months from the order date. After three months have passed, no refund will be provided.

Cancellation

You can cancel your active subscription at any time through your user account. To do so, perform the following steps:

  1. Click the "Account" link in the website's top bar menu when logged in to navigate to your user account.
  2. Click the "Subscriptions" tab in your user account to navigate to your Subscriptions page.
  3. On the Subscriptions page, you will see a "cancel" link next to the active subscription. Click the link to navigate to the Cancellation confirmation page. (Important: if you are using a small mobile device, you will need to scroll the table to the right to see the "cancel" link.)
  4. On the Cancellation confirmation page, you will be offered the opportunity to provide feedback if you wish. Once done, complete the cancellation by clicking the "Cancel Subscription Renewal" button.

After the subscription is cancelled it will be updated in our system, and you will receive an e-mail confirming your subscription cancellation at the e-mail address associated with your user account. Please make sure to check your spam or junk e-mail folders if you do not receive the message in a timely manner.

If you prefer, you may also contact us using the information provided on the Contact page, and we can cancel the subscription on your behalf. However, it is important to understand there is no guarantee how quickly we will be able to process your request. If you require an immediate cancellation, especially during the time approaching your automatic renewal, using the self-service option will ensure the best results and is highly recommended.

You must always remember to cancel your subscription prior to the date and time of the scheduled automatic renewal to avoid an additional charge. The date and time of the next automatic renewal payment will always be no earlier than the subscription cycle length. For example, if a monthly subscription was paid at February 8 at 06:32, the next subscription payment attempt will be scheduled to be no sooner than March 8 at 06:32. If a customer wishes to cancel such a subscription and avoid another charge after February 8, the subscription must be canceled prior to March 8 at 06:32.

When a subscription cancellation occurs, your user account will be unscheduled from all future automatic renewal payments. You will continue to have access to subscription content until the date and time at which the next automatic renewal payment would have occurred. Once this date and time has passed, content access will be revoked, and it will be necessary to re-subscribe to again gain access to subscription content. We do not completely remove accounts from our system unless requested by the account owner.

Communication

It is your responsibility to ensure your user account has a valid e-mail address where e-mails can be delivered, and that you monitor the e-mail address with regularity. This will ensure you receive notifications about subscription purchases and upcoming renewals in a timely manner. Also given the potential risk of e-mails being delivered into your spam or junk folder, we ask that you add fswebmaster[at]financialsense[dot]com to your e-mail account's address book.

The e-mail address associated with your user account can be updated at any time. Visit your user account by clicking the "Account" link in the top bar menu of any page when logged in, and update the "E-mail address" field under the "Account" tab.
